What is it?

‘Imperflection’ is a autobiographical student graphic novel which explores overcoming your inner critic. This comic aims to inspire by offering ways to manage, rather than conquer, your inner critic.

The comic follows Sonya, a dedicated student of harbor view academy, striving for success in a competition but in doing so undergoes a struggle to cope with her relentless inner critic, Stormy

The Trigger

I wanted to create this comic as I occasionally struggle with feeling inferior to my peers as a artist which leads to me forgetting my core reason for making art. Whenever I see my peers' works, I often find myself comparing my works, feeling they aren't all that good and that I could have made something better. I would often feel pressured to constantly improve without stopping to ask if that's something I'm okay with.

The Goal

I want those who are going through the same situation as me to feel seen and know that they are not alone. Although feeling imperfect is a human feeling that can't be permanently cured, they can still find ways to manage it.
