Art Of Crime Fighting [2022]

The 'Art of Crime Fighting' poster design competition was held in 2022 and started by Bukit Merah East Neighborhood Police Centre for participants to design posters that encourage crime fighting. The winning entries would be displayed as wall murals around the nearby neighborhood.

I decided to base my design off of the topic of Phishing Scams as during the time, phishing scams were on the rise. Unfortunately, I did not receive any clear results on my design. However I was still glad to have been able to participate.

13-19 Art Competition [2022]

The 13-19 art prize is an annual art competition which seeks to recognize and celebrate young talents in Singapore. While also imparting values of giving-back to the community to support their peers from disadvantaged backgrounds through the arts.

The competition is open to youths aged 13 to 19. I was notified of the second edition of this art competition via my school email which allowed me to be able to find the opportunity to participate. The title of my artwork is called Star Pact. The illustration is about promising to have hope and not give up while pushing forward to shine bright like a guiding star. Unfortunately, I did not win but I was still glad to be able to participate. Perhaps I will try again should the competition be held again.

Emerging Stronger Together Art Entry [2020]

The 'Emerging Stronger Together' Art Entry was a art competition I participated in while I was in secondary school. During that year, the pandemic had struck and the competition was organized to promote staying motivated despite the situation.

I wanted to show unity and harmony between all races from different backgrounds and professions out of inclusivity and how Singaporeans are capable enough to overcome all obstacles when we face them together. Unfortunately, I did not hear back from the organizers about the results of the competition.

TISDC Animation Competition [2023]

'Sunflora' is a competition entry made for the Taiwan International Student Design Competition that took place in 2023. It is a one-individual made short film that immerses viewers in a unique realm inhabited by plant people. In this extraordinary world, compassion is scarce and emotions are detached. The story revolves around Clythe, the central character, whose life takes an unexpected twist with the arrival of a new girl named Helia in his class. As Clythe witnesses Helia's profound acts of compassion, his own perspective undergoes a gradual and transformative shift, leading him towards a brighter outlook on life.

I created this animation from May of 2023 to June 2023 as an entry to Taiwan International Student Design Competition under the theme of "Compassion" after ambassadors came to our school to promote this competition for students to participate. If I can be completely honest I personally feel that I could have went into more detail with this animation in terms of story exploration as well as the quality of my animation could have been better had I spent more time planning everything in detail instead of rushing to create something in time. However making an entire animation all by myself, especially spending multiple days constructing a good idea with a theme as abstract as "compassion", is a tiring task and I'll take it as a learning experience and improve further in the future.

KDF Calendar Design Competition [2023]

Kidney Dialysis Foundation hosted a calendar design competition to art students and fellow creatives. The theme for the calendar design is connection. I made some concept drafts on Adobe Illustrator based on a rainbow theme where each month is in the color of the rainbow. I have attached a short write-up as part of the design entry submission.

Fiverr

La_Studios

La_Studios is one of my regular clients on Fiverr who commissioned me to make reference sheets of their original characters. La_Studios' characters all have a distinct style of color which make it easy for me to identify them as their characters. The client had also requested for me to use the same base for all the characters, and thus I kept it followed along and kept it consistent. It's always exciting to look forward to what new character La_Studios would like me to draw for them.

Rancorsnp

Rancorsnp is a another regular of mine who began commissioning me reference sheets of their characters for a game concept. They wanted me to draw their characters in a unique style that is cute while also retaining some qualities of my original style. We communicated thoroughly on the details of each character and I worked hard to provide designs for Rancorsnp based on their character references and mood board. Working with them has been an honor and privilege.

Kalivtuber

One of my clients who ordered from me to design a Virtual youtuber reference sheet for her. She only gave me a mood board to work with when designing the character so I did my best to come with designs that matched with her mood board. Initially I came up with 2 designs and after communicating with the client, we settled on the first design. Working with clients like Kalivtuber has been a great pleasure. It is refreshing to be able to work with clients with their own unique vision for a character while I am tasked with bringing the vision to life.

Collaborations

Cat & Mouse Album ft. Skirmish Music Producer

In August 2022, I was commissioned by music producer, Skirmish, to design a song album cover for his new song 'Cat & Mouse'.

The music video is currently live on Youtube with 6,400 views with positive comments on both the music and the artwork. I am really happy that many people found the artwork pleasing to look at as I never expected this opportunity to come for me. I hope to be able to work on more projects like this in the future.

Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2024 Brightening Lives

In September 2023, I took part in the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2024 Brightening Lives facade projection project where I designed a illustration to be projected onto the Fullerton Hotel which would become shortlisted in November 2023. The illustration titled: "Support Through Thick and Thin" is focused on mental health among youths, depicting strong bonds among Singaporeans to show that mental health issues among youths can be overcome with the right support. I incorporated the use of ristographic lines and textures to make the piece vibrant and appealing.

META Buffet Menu Item Illustration Commission

In November 2023, I was approached by my lecturer in school who requested me to assist his company temporarily to illustrate menu items for Meta who was hosting a buffet with Asian cuisine. I was tasked with 6 items to illustrate in a lineless artstyle.

Although I was not skilled at illustrating food, I gave my all while working on these illustrations, speaking with my lecturer for feedback and advice. Overall, I am quite proud to have been able to illustrate for a big company like Meta and I hope to be able to work on similar gigs in the future.
